Veggies and Sleep and Training, Oh My: 9/8/09 Report

My report from September 8, 2009, faithfully submitted for your review…

Hrs of sleep:
4.5 FAIL FAIL FAIL

Veggies:
1/2 c snap peas (raw)
1 carrot (raw)
1 red pepper (raw)
1/2 cucumber (raw)
1 c snap peas
1 c broccoli
1/4 c onion
1/3 c eggplant

Fruit:
1 c strawberries
1/2 apple
1/2 c raspberries

Training:
UNPLANNED REST DAY

The skinny
Oh, man! It was one of those nights. Pillow flipping, blanket on, blanket off, arm overhead, arms folded in, on my side, on my back, on my other side… from about 9:30 p.m. until 1:30 a.m. I tossed, turned, harumphed, and wimpered. TV on, TV off, through four and a half episodes of “Murder She Wrote” until I finally drifted off into a fitful sleep until 4:45 a.m. when I woke up to pee and realized I was scheduled to be dressed in 15 minutes to get my fanny to CrossFit Women. FAIL.

I turned off the alarm and coaxed myself back to sleep until 6:30, when I started fretting about work, or more accurately, all the work-related things I’d intended to do over the weekend and had not. FAIL.

Sleep: 8 hours. Went to bed early, but couldn't sleep until close to my previously normal bedtime. :( I vaguely recall a middle-of-the-night wakeup by one of my kids as well.

    Veg:
standard mushrooms & spinach w eggs

standard big salad from the local salad bar

    1/2 c broccoli slaw
    1/2 c baba ghanoush

WOD: 5 rounds of 5 185# DLs and 10 burpees – 10:14. I. hate. burpees. Especially in conjunction with heavy deadlifts.

    Sleep
2 hours. I'm thinking it would be easier if I left my brain in a jar on the nightstand.

    Veggies
    cabbage
    collards
    carrots
    cauliflower
    snap peas

    Fruit
    strawberries
    watermelon

    Workout
REALLY slow kickboxing without moving much. Finally got back to trying sprints after the quad issue and now the knee doesn't want to play nice.

Finally back to eating okay, hopefully everything else will fall into place.
