Three Words

Chocolate.Oscar. Dresses.(This link will show you more chocolatey, fashionable goodness.) I will be watching the Academy Awards on Sunday (Dinner and a Movie!™), but alas, I will not be wearing a chocolate dress. In fact, it’s pretty likely I’ll be wearing squishy pants, slippers, and my hair in a ponytail – although I’m flirting with the idea of getting dolled up to watch so I... read more

Warning: I Feel a Rant Coming On

In July, two Significant Things™ happened: I met the one-of-a-kind Moxy-Boss and saw Food, Inc. Both of those events changed forever the way I think about food and my body and eating. I now feel quite political about food. Real food. And cooking. And eating. And what those things mean for how I feel about myself and my loved ones. It’s heavy stuff. But it’s also just food. So most of the... read more

Let’s Squish Our Fruits Together

Best line: No, fruit salad is too chunky! Improv Everywhere: For our latest mission, six undercover actors burst into song in a grocery store in Queens. Three minutes and lots of silly choreography later, they returned to their roles as shoppers and stock boys. The mission was filmed with hidden robotic, lipstick, and wearable cameras. The song was played over the store’s PA system... read more

A Very Good Thursday

Dave came into the kitchen this morning while I was making my sweet potato frittata and asked his usual morning question, “How’s my sweetie?” I launched into a monologue on my workout, Smudge, the weather, today’s to-do list… an energetic, stream-of-consciousness list. And he said, “Well, this ride is fun. You’re a totally different person than you were... read more

Smupdate! March 2, 2010

Sometimes, when I’m hanging with the corporate overlords, Dave emails me photos of what Smudge is doing. This just in: Smudge is now awake from her nap and working her WOD. AMRAP 10 minutes: Jump on countertop Tackle twist-tie and barrel roll Sprint to dining room table Leap onto bookshelf Sprint to... read more

Is It Really Only Tuesday?

I’m very tired today. Like, “slept through my alarm and barely got to the gym on time” tired… and “got back in bed after my shower and fell asleep like I was drugged” tired. See also: fatigued, sleepy, worn out, weary, droopy, and pooped. I am also clumsy… So far this morning, I’ve walked into the elevator door frame, hooked my bag strap around a doorknob... read more

A Day on the Greenbelt

Team Relentless hit the Barton Creek Greenbelt on Saturday for a 14-mile hike. Our plan was to start at the trailhead by the Barton Springs pool and walk to the top of the Hill of Life where we’d strategically-placed Bonita’s truck, stocked with water. After a little re-group at the truck, we’d head back down the trail, then celebrate at Green Mesquite with piles of BBQ. We followed... read more

Marching for a Cause

As you know, Team Relentless is using the Bataan Memorial Death March to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project. (Look left and click if you’d like to make a contribution.) Our honorary team member Dave Elliott over at ...And the Adventure Continues… is also running for a cause: the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. Check out this interview with Dave and read his amazing story. Dare you not... read more
