In September, Dave and I are going on a 2-week holiday to Prague. I’m going to eat a dumpling (and a strudel), wear a black leather jacket, and walk on cobblestones. I’ve been asked so many times, “Why Prague?” that I’ve decided to show you.
It’s the Prague Photo of the Day (POD).
The Sedlec Ossuary is a small Roman Catholic chapel in Sedlec, a suburb of Kutná Hora,...

Hormone poisoning (HP) has begun, and it’s got me feeling all moody and Jane Eyre-y. Although the moodiness hasn’t taken an evil form yet, forewarned is forearmed – rage, tears, laughter, and some frightening combination off all three are probably nigh. (See? “Nigh.” I also considered “afoot.”)
Despite the HP, I was super excited about the workout today. Tristy’s...

I shared this link on Twitter this morning, but the video is so good, I want to make sure you see it. My favorite part? “Fifty percent of our calories should come from fat.”
HOW DELICIOUS IS THAT?!
I love that the way to reduce MY body fat is to consume more (high quality) fat. Don’t you?
Thanks to Food Renegade for sharing this video on her blog. And if you haven’t subscribed or...

Sometimes the workout is made of things I hate (and I feel grrr and determined). Sometimes it’s made of things at which I don’t totally suck (and I feel wheeee!). I know that as CrossFitters we’re supposed to seek out opportunities to work on our weaknesses, but dang if it isn’t fun and inspiring sometimes to do a workout that feels like success!
Today was like that.
I was only meh...

Sometimes, when I’m hanging with the corporate overlords, Dave emails me photos of what Smudge is doing.
This just in: “La la la. I’m a cat. I’M A CAT! I can look at you upside down… la la la.”...

I think the last time I ate at McDonald’s was sometime prior to 2005 – and I distinctly remember the last fast food I consumed. It was a horrible grilled “chicken” sandwich at Wendy’s. Disgusting.
It was, like, 10:00 p.m. on a Sunday night, and I’d just finished a Roller Derby bout. It was always challenging to find something quick and portable to eat after a bout because I...

Thanks to the Frankenneck, some mornings I wake up slowly, like swimming from the bottom to the surface of a really deep pool, brain foggy, limbs heavy. On those days, I’ll feel myself reach full consciousness – bing! – sometime after the warmup and in the middle of the Skills section of our workout. It’s an odd sensation and can be very disconcerting. Um… how did I get here?!
On...
