I’m on a yoga retreat in Tulum, Mexico this week. If things are going right, I’m either meditating, bare foot running, or sipping a pina colada right now. I’ll be back in the world of all things digital on June 4. Until then, enjoy this post and take good care of yourself.
If someone had told me a year ago that now I’d be looking forward to a week on the beach with a bunch of yoga...

I still find myself quite surprised to be typing these words, but here goes: Dave and I are off to a yoga retreat.
We’re going to the Maya Tulum Resort in Mexico with a crew from YogaYoga. My plan is to completely disconnect from the internet, so no blog, no email, no Twitter, no Facebook… just sun, sand, surf, Satnam, books, running, meditation, CrossFit workouts, and romance with my handsome...

Memorial Day is the official beginning of the American summer picnic and potluck season. Are you ready, paleo people?!
Here’s a list of the recipes from my archives that I believe you can take to a picnic or a potluck without tipping anyone off that they’re eating “paleo” or “healthy” or “clean.” They will just nosh and celebrate – and so can you, knowing...

Our kundalini instructor Robin gave us a prompt for a visualization in class last week, and I’ve been thinking about it a lot ever since.
She had us close our eyes and visualize a path. There were no specifics other than that at first: just visualize a path.
I immediately thought of the hiking trail in Tennessee Valley, in Marin County, California. This is what the trail looks like as you start your...

Last week, I knocked off work early and spent a few hours with my dear friend Stacey chopping and stirring in a cooking class at Thai Fresh. It’s one of those only-in-Austin places that’s an authentic Thai restaurant attached to Thrice, a super cozy coffee-and-wine bar with wireless and live music (because every coffee and/or wine bar in Austin is pretty...

In my quest for lean superhero-ness, I’m following the Wendler 5/3/1 strength training program. Twice a week, Dave and I are hitting the craptastic gym in our Converse to lift heavy and crank through a mini-metcon.
Hello, summer.
Dave and I are going on a yoga retreat next week in Tulum, Mexico… seven days of sand, surf, sun, and Satnam. (More on that later this week.)
When we went to Costa...

Oh, the webbernet! It gets me all riled up with dire news and mainstream idiocy, then blammo! it hits me with something so awesome, it must be shared. Dear friends, welcome to this week’s collection of Rants & Raves.
Rants
Last week, I only had two small rants to share. This week? I had so many articles that made me smash my head against the desk, I had to break them up between this week and...

I need a revamp.
I’ve been consistently throwing around the heavy barbells twice a week since January, and I love what it’s doing for my confidence and my frame. True,...
