From August 1 through August 23, I’m documenting my Whole30, including the when, what, where, and how much of my sleep, activity, food, and mood. Read about why I’m doing the Whole30 right here. Not familiar with the Whole30? Learn all about it here and get extra help with the Whole30 Daily.
Whole30: Day 4
Ah, Saturday. Yoga. Breakfast. Library. Nap. Video shoot planning (!). Olympics. I have no complaints.
8.5 hours — I slept from 11:00 to 6:30, then used some of my deep breathing tricks from yoga to relax enough to fall back to sleep until 7:45.
Hatha yoga: We had a substitute teacher today so it wasn’t as awesome as usual. Dear substitute yoga instructors, free advice from me to you: Don’t begin the class by scolding the people there for the messy way the previous class put away the blankets, blocks, and bolsters.
Walk fail: It was 100 degrees this afternoon, and I just didn’t feel like going for a walk in that.
I’ve found my appetite is less ravenous, and I feel better if I eat in a 11-hour window — usually between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. so I can stop eating about 2-3 hours before going to bed — and don’t snack between meals or before bed. Because I’m dealing with my thyroid experiment, I’m measuring and tracking my food right now. I aim for 40% fat, 30% protein, 30% carbs.
Snack, 10:30 a.m.
1.5 ounces Romanian sausage
Brunch, 11:30 a.m. — Habanero Mexican Cafe
caldo de res (soup): 4 ounces beef, 1/2 large carrot, 1/2 large zucchini, salsa, lots of awesome broth
Dinner, 7:00 p.m. — Firebowl Cafe
coconut curry: 4 ounces beef, broccoli, snap peas, onions, bell peppers, coconut milk curry sauce
salad: lettuce, creamy garlic dressing
Firebowl makes Asian food to order and has a gluten-free menu. It’s one of my go-to restaurants for eating clean(ish).
Just fine. Neither awesome nor poor, just… there. I needed to take a nap this afternoon. So I didn’t.
Photo of the Day
My friend and neighbor Stef — she’s the artist who made a lot of the pottery used in Well Fed — returned from a road trip today. This is us reuniting with a hug in her front yard.
How was your Day 4?
