In my quest for lean superhero-ness, I’m following the Wendler 5/3/1 strength training program. Twice a week, Dave and I are hitting the craptastic gym in our Converse to lift heavy and crank through a mini-metcon.
In Which My Superhero Powers Go MIA
I wrote a blog post once about how during certain days of my cycle, things seem to be firing on all cylinders. I lift weights like they’re made...

It’s been a while since I shared some of my kundalini adventures, but rest assured, I’m still getting my weird on a few times a week. In fact, November 16 was my Kundaliniversary, and I’m proud to say that in the year I’ve been practicing meditation, I’ve become more adept at relaxing into it and staying focused. Sure, there was that time I thought about the Stay Puft...

Sure, I could have just called this “Leftover Turkey Curry,” but where’s the fun in that?!
In my search for worthwhile things to do with leftover Thanksgiving turkey, I found this recipe on Feed52, then messed with it to make it even tastier and paleo approved. Kind of like Country Captain Chicken, this dish combines curry, raisins, and poultry to make a meal that’s comforting and...

Confession: On Friday, when I fully expected to be eating Thanksgiving, Part Deux: The Reckoning, I instead awoke from a nap with a craving. Dave jumped into action hero mode and in less than 30 minutes, I was eating a double cheeseburger (no bun) from P. Terry’s with a side of fries that I sprinkled with truffle salt.
Yeah. I did that.
So I’m a little behind with my thoughts on what to do with...

In No Particular Order…
Following the lead of our CEO Smudge — who prioritizes rest and self care over to-do lists on a regular basis — Dave and I gave ourselves the week off...

Me, circa 2009, when I got my first iPhone: I don’t see what the big deal is. Seriously. Everyone is losing their minds over the iPhone; it’s just a freakin’ phone. I don’t even like talking on the phone, so whatever.
Fast forward to, um, yesterday… I used my phone as my camera, my running coach, my partner in word games (OMG: Spelltower!), my meditation timer, a reminder to...

This is 13 minutes of crazy-ass driving and traffic accidents from Russia. Dave kept telling me I had to watch it, and I kept saying, “Yeah, yeah… when I have time.” YOU NEED TO MAKE TIME RIGHT NOW! (For maximum impact, watch it in full-screen mode — and fasten your seatbelt!)
I’m kind of a fan of the dorkiness of a capella singing — and this video of two guys recreating the...

Our Thanksgiving traditions including watching Thanksgiving movies — specifically Home For The Holidays and Planes, Trains and Automobiles — that make me laugh ’til my face hurts, then hit me with the big, emotional wrap-up that makes me cry. I cannot get enough.
Here, in case you need to get in the mood…
The trailer for Home For The Holidays which includes hints of some of my favorite...

Sometimes, when I’m hard at work typing and thinking, or cooking, or just generally trying to get ahead in the world, I take a break to see what Smudge is up to. Or I grab her and hug her ’til she makes the “put me down” noise.
Sometime during November 2009, a black and white kitty found her way to our neighbor Stef’s pottery studio and decided she didn’t want to leave....

Weather in Austin is fickle. I have photos of myself making Thanksgiving turkey and Christmas cookies in a tank top — in contrast, there have been a handful of ice storms in recent memory that brought the city to a frozen halt for several days. Right now, we’re enjoying some perfect weather for outdoor activity: brisk in the a.m., then sunny and 70s during the day.
“Why the weather report,...

It’s nearing the end of the year, and in addition to paleo-ized holiday recipes and way too much socializing, that means awards competitions!
I’ve been nominated for a few cateogires in the Paleo Magazine’s Best of 2012, and I’m delighted to find myself amidst some pretty great company. If you like Well Fed and The Clothes Make The Girl, I would really appreciate your vote.
There...
