Let It Snow?

photo(3)

Sadly, it didn’t snow during our morning run, but it was a gloriously chilly 37 degrees Fahrenheit with brilliant sunshine. I’m on Week 5 of the Zombies, Run! 5K Training Program and have graduated to 10-minute “free runs” (where I run and walk as I see fit) with intervals of 60-second running drills alternating with 30-second walks. It feels SO GOOD! I didn’t want to stop today, but the workouts are hovering around 50 minutes, which is plenty of raised heart rate time for a metabolically challenged elf like me.

Now it’s time to make cookies! On our baking agenda today: Russian Teacakes, Potato Chip Cookies, Cook’s Illustrated Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Cranberry Bliss Bars. (Once or twice a week, after our run, we drive through Starbucks for a decaf Americano, and every time, I avert my eyes from the holiday-flavored lattes and giant photo of Cranberry Bliss bars. “Some day before Christmas,” I said to Dave, “I’m treating myself to a gingerbread latte and a cranberry bar.” This morning, I ordered a decaf gingerbread latte, took a sip, and… thbbbsssstttt… almost spit it out. Too sweet! Too Fakey McFakerson tasting! So I was coffee-less. And I passed up on the factory-baked cranberry bars in favor of making ‘em at home.)

Hope you’re having some holiday fun this weekend! I’ll eat a cookie in honor of you.

Hugs to you, Dave, and Smudge! I’ll raise a cookie in your honor over X-mas!

Me too! (On the processed food having a processed taste now, not the running and baking part). Have a wonderful holiday!

Yeah to Jean Luc! You are the coolest blogger out there for having a TNG reference. You’re now on the top of my list.

Now if it snows in Texas, we’ll know who to thank (or blame).

Have a wonderful holiday with your main squeeze and little squeeze.

I clicked the link for cranberry bliss bars and it took me to the choco chip recipe. Would you mind re-posting that link, because that sounds bliss-ful.
    Thannks!

I had the same thing happen to me at Starbucks yesterday. I wanted that peppermint mocha so bad and when I tasted it, all I could taste was TOO MUCH SUGAR!

No longer a treat for me.
