I’m a salty snacks kind of person. Back in the day, I could eat Doritos until I was sick — then keep eating them anyway. It was impossible for me to keep an open bag of Baked Lays potato chips in the house because it was either full (i.e., closed) or emptied into my belly — with my salty fingers and a distended tummy as evidence of my debauchery. These days, a pile of french fries or a bowl of buttered popcorn is still my go-to dream snack.
Unless it’s Russian Teacakes at Christmas time, I can usually enjoy sweet treats without falling down into the dark pit with the sugar demon and when cravings strike, they’re usually for something salty, instead of cupcakes or cookies. And honestly, most paleo cookies and brownies leave me kind of cold. If the real thing doesn’t make me lose my mind, how can flourless, refined-sugar-free versions possibly compete?
Then I tried Goodbody Baked Goods.
These bite-sized sweet treats are objectively delicious. Not “delicious for a paleo treat,” not “good enough for gluten-free”… these are scrumptious on their own merits.
And let’s talk about those merits!
Goodbody bites are available in five flavors that should satisfy just about any sweet tooth: Mint Chocolate Chip, Almond Butter Chocolate Chip, Dark Chocolate, Vanilla Coconut, and Lemon Blueberry Walnut. Dave and I have tried all of them, and I’m having trouble picking a favorite. The Vanilla Coconut tastes like a chewy macaroon… the Lemon Blueberry Walnut is just like a mini muffin… and the Dark Chocolate is fudgy and rich like the best brownie.
The other selling point? The size. The Goodbody bites are 1-inch squares — the perfect size to enjoy two bites, and really savor the taste, without overdoing it.
Here’s the best part: the foundation of all the Goodbody Baked Goods is coconut and almond. I’ll let them explain:
So many proclaimed healthy, gluten-free products in the market are insulin spiking, inflammation producing, calorie-dense and nutritionally sparse. On the contrary, Goodbody strives to create nourishing goodies that support good health! Rather than replacing gluten with starches and grains, we use almond and coconut. These foods offer blood sugar stabilization and anti-inflammatory properties… we believe in honoring your body. We’re committed to opening minds and taste buds to the truth that baked goods can be healthy and delicious!
Just take a look at the beautiful ingredients list for the Lemon Blueberry Walnut bites:
- Almond Flour
- Coconut Nectar
- Juice-Sweetened Dried Blueberries
- Coconut Oil
- Pure Lemon Extract
- Baking Soda
- Sea Salt
Real food! And here’s the nutrition label:
These are great to keep in the fridge (when you’re not doing a Whole30) so you can enjoy a sweet treat from time to time — and they’d be a lovely addition to a paleo dinner party or potluck. I want you to try them… so thanks to the folks at Goodbody, we’re giving away two sampler boxes! If you can’t wait, you can buy Goodbody Baked Goods online here, and soon, they might be in a retail store near you.
