buy other stuff

These are some of my favorite things to read, watch, listen to, and use in the kitchen. If you buy any of this stuff through my little store, I get a tiny kickback from Amazon… so why not buy yourself a present today!

Feed Your Mind

I’ve read all of these books (even the one I wrote!), and they all shaped my thinking about eating, training, and living.

Robb provides plenty of excellent explanation of the “why” of paleo, plus meal plans and straight talk about exercise. Also, he’s hilarious.

Mark is all about the sexy side of living right. It’s a nice balance to my general affection for strict rules and discipline.

Sarah provides a nicely-rounded family approach to eating, exercise, and living a happy life, plus lots of recipes.

It looks like it’s about roller derby, but it’s really about strong women and not giving up on your big ideas… and it shares the story of how I transformed from über-nerd to Rollergirl.

Don’t be put off by the sorta cheesy title; this little book is packed with badass ideas.

Dave and I read this before we started our half marathon training. It’s filled with excellent advice for runners of any distance — and I love Galloway’s run-walk philosophy.

Feed Your Body

Super helpful in the kitchen for ensuring I eat enough protein.

My primary pan for almost all our meals. We have two — often on the stove at once!

Absolutely essential for minimizing kitchen accidents. Dull knife=danger!

Durable, environmentally friendly, won’t destroy your pans.

Makes chopping fun!

This is the #1 knife I use for everything. LOVE IT!
Oxo Good Grips Swivel Peeler

Works great, even on hard-to-peel like jicama and mango!

Indispensible for making marinades and mint pesto.

Amco Enameled Aluminum Lemon Squeezer
I thought I didn’t need one of these until I got one. Make your life easier.

This thing is a work horse! Ideal for sunshine sauce, mayo, cauliflower “rice,” and more.

Feed Your Imagination

My favorite book. Ever.
Jane Eyre (Masterpiece Theatre, 2006)

Jane Eyre (Masterpiece Theatre, 2006)
My favorite film adaptation.

Badass examination of identity and self-image.

A big-time adventure story with thrills and romance.

A compelling collection of essays about travels around the world and inside the brain.
The Edge

The Edge by Dick Francis
A fun mystery set on a train ride across the Canadian Rockies.

Beautiful, sad story about a little girl during WWII.

Some days are just like that. On those days, you need to read this book.

A food memoir that perfectly captures what food means to family.

Feed Your Ears

Cheating at Solitaire

Cheating at Solitaire by Mike Ness
Just the right mix of anger and redemption.

Sex, Love and Rock ‘n’ Roll by Social Distortion
My fave album from my fave band. Dare you not to love “Highway 101.”
The Moldau: Bohemian Fields and Groves Slavonic Dances

Painfully beautiful and exhilarating.

Stronger

Stronger by Kanye West
He’s a tool, but this is the best workout song ever.
F**k You [Explicit]

F**k You by Cee Lo Green[Explicit]
Totally kickass running song.
Jane Eyre: The Musical (Original 2000 Broadway Cast)

The duets between Jane and Rochester are AWESOME!
